Sometimes I ask myself... Why am I doing this? Why do I go to a race and stay hours in the circuit watching cars go by and pressing the button on the camera? Am I going to watch the race or to take pictures? It actually is a bit of both.
I really enjoy watching the cars go by at full speed and the on track battles as much as I like to stand behind the fence glued to the viewfinder. It's part of my enjoyment, to create. Some may ask. Don't you miss a bit of the action by trying to capture it? It does happen, but understanding what's going on ain't that difficult. A quick look at the scoreboard and the live timing, usually solves the problem. While standing there, camera in hand, I can feel the smells, hear the noises and feel the weather on me. All of this is part of the experience of going to watch a race in person.
So whenever I see a photo I took, I not only enjoy the photo itself, but I also travel back to that place. The smell of fuel and bacon, the sound of the tires screeching and the cold in my skin, rushes back and ignite my senses as if I was there, all over again.
It's not just a photo, it's to relive the moment. Where does a photo take you?
